Project Craftivism |
Craft + Activism = Craftivism= Changing the world & reaching out one person (human & non-human) at a time through craftivism and art. These are the projects that I get up to in my craftivism...all my finished projects are veganized in order to be both human & non-human-friendly. Know of any projects? Submit them! No? Pick one here and get involved! :) |
In keeping with the baby theme (hehe), I will spend the next few months making wildlife rescue nests for baby wildlife - think bunnies, squirrels, birdies!!! Hopefully, I will have plenty in time for the Spring.
You can find both knitted (with DPNs) and crocheted patterns for these. Click on title for Ravelry link for knitted version or click here. Crochet version and more info on nests here.
I contacted the following wildlife rescues and this is what they need and how to get them to them:
http://www.vbspcawildlife.com - ”We utilize these nests daily and would be most appreciative to receive more.”
http://wildbabyrescue.org - ”We are in need of some that are 6” wide and 4” tall. Thank you so much.”
If anyone knows any other rescues or wildlife hospitals that need and use these, let me know! I’m in Europe so, I will be making the smaller/standard size given by the pattern to keep costs down, so knowing any other rescues that need these across the globe, may help cut shipping costs for anyone interested in helping.
As always, it makes no sense to help one species by exploiting another, so I will be making my nests with animal-free (ie. wool and all other fur-free, silk -free, etc.) yarn, and therefore, vegan yarn (cotton, soy, bamboo, other plant yarns, synthetics, etc.). It’s easy to subtitute with all the alternatives :)
So, who’ll join me?
